I'm going to show you my little renewable energy system there I have my wind turbine, that's a 1000 Watt wind turbine and at the back I have even some smaller ones. Each of these are 100W and with this I am able to power my entire home. I'm going to show you in a minute what are the items, the real items I get to power. Our batteries We have 4 batteries 1, 2, 3, 4. That's IT! I don't have numerous batteries. This is it 1, 2, 3, 4.

Here we have nice, good frozen chicken ready to be sold and if we should have banked on JPS our chicken would have spoiled. SPOILED I tell you! SPOIL. Now TeamKB, if I should generate more energy that I use and I sell the excess to JPS JPS wants to pay me 10 cent per kWh, 10 CENT per kW of energy I sell from my solar panel! Let's say at nights I now want to buy back from JPS ,.

JPS is proposing to charge us a whopping 40 cent per kW! 4 Times as much! So I sell them the energy and they pay me 10 cents. but when I want to buy back its 40 cent Its like a yam farmer, I am in Trelawny and I farm and I have my yam ground farm and from my yam farm I sell yam for $10 per pound TEN Dollars! But I buy back the same yam from the same man and wants to charge me $40 per pound! Now tell me, its time we rise up, it's time we wise up!.

How to Supplement Solar Energy with a Wind Turbine

I've just kind of hastily thrown up with jumper cables run it to a gridtie inverter that I've got up here. 1000 watt gridtie inverter. Which feeds directly back into the house. It works great! The only problem is it's not that windy here. Um, but right now it's pretty windy.

So it's been making a few watts today. I've seen it as high as 45 watts, which is actually kind of lousy. If this was up another 20 feet, it would probably make 10x that, so 400 watts maybe. And that's pretty significant, especially if it's running all day and night. So anyway. We can't really depend. I would ideally like to put it on my housetop. And actually put turbines up there. Maybe even 4 or 5 of them. All work together. But the neighborhood, the way it is, that's frowned upon.

VERY STRONGLY, so. Oh well. I don't want to upset the neighbors. I want to make this experiment work with still pleasing everyone else. Without anyone noticing that I'm saving energy. So. Anyway. That's my experiment in Wind and Solar. So. I'll have to come up with another way to make some power. A renewable way. I don't want to burn wood. I don't want to burn gas. We've already canceled our natural gas service and we don't buy gasoline anymore everything's electric now. So. That's my experiment. In renewable energy.

Vortex Bladeless develops a Wind Turbine without Blades

Vortex Bladeless is a Spanish tech startup. It wants to completely change the way we get energy from the wind. Think wind stick instead of a massive tower with blades that capture blowing winds. The Vortex is a new kind of Wind Turbine being developed without any blades. The conical shape harnesses the oscillating motion caused by the wind and converts that to kinetic energy. When wind hits a structure and flows over its surfaces the flow changes and generates a cyclical pattern of vortices at the tail end of the flow. This is known as the vortex.

Shedding effect which creates something known as vorticity and that is what Vortex Bladeless uses to generate energy. Vorticity has long been considered the enemy of architects and engineers, who actively try to design their way around these whirlpools of wind. Where designers see danger, Vortex Bladeless's founders see opportunity. The team started Vortex Bladeless in 2010 as a way to turn this vibrating energy into something productive. This is not your usual wind turbine. It consists of a fixed mast, a power generator that has no moving parts which come into contact with each other and a semirigid fiberglass cylinder.

The power generator is a system of magnetic coupling devices which means there are no gears needing lubrication and an overall system needing less maintenance. The Vortex team says there are some clear advantages to their model It's less expensive to manufacture, totally silent, and safer for birds since there are no blades to fly into.
