Hey everyone, went to Big Lots a couple of days ago and they had their Christmas lights on sale so I took the opportunity to get some their solar LED Christmas lights. Normally $18 for $9 I thought it was a fairly decent deal. So what it comes with is, there is a solar panel here the lights themselves they're sixty to a strand and they just connect right into the panel there's a notch in there so it only goes in one way and this will tighten I assumed to keep the rain out since they are designed for outdoor use.
They also give you a clamp so you could actually attach it to just about anything that it will clamp onto, I assume a rain gutter would be the most common they also give you the yard stakes this one looks like it plugged in to there and the solar panel plugged into there so they give you a lot of options so you can get it just about anywhere that there is sun the panel itself has a on off switch in the back here it looks like a sensor for whether it's daytime or nighttime.
Looked like two AA batteries that are rechargeable on the inside, I didn't take it apart or anything to look to give you an idea how bright the lights are that's the lights and in comparison, they had these lights that plug in. These are the warm lights, they seem to flicker in the camera uh. these were $1.50 since they were 50 off. Normally $3, 20 to a strand. these seem to use about 1.61.7 watts of power so they should last quite awhile if you run them off battery or not eat up the.
Electric bill as much. According to the box they use 90 less power than normal Christmas lights Actually on the back of the box of the solar one it gives you a little comparison. I assume that 600 of this C7 lights about $100, $94.50 cost for 45 days 7 hours a day with the average cost being 10 cents per kilowatt hour. And the 600 mini lights would be $7.71 but the solar one ends up being free because it uses the power from the sun. No idea who makes it, just says distributed by Big Lots and made in China no actual manufacturer.

This is an aquatic plant called pondweed, and we can see that it's making tiny bubbles of gas. This gas is oxygen and all plants produce it in a process called photosynthesis. The word photosynthesis comes from the Greek meaning light' and putting together'. Plants use the energy in sunlight to make sugars, out of the simple ingredients of carbon dioxide and water. The flow of electrons from the chlorophyll is then used with the remaining hydrogen ions to produce the energy needed to synthesise glucose from molecules of carbon dioxide. So sunlight provides the energy we need to move electrons from one molecule to another turning light energy into chemical energy ready for our plant to use. But can we do the same thing artificially How does photosynthesis compare to a solar panel Well, solar panels like those on the Energy Tree.
Use light as an energy source, and they also generate a flow of electrons. But they don't store chemical energy they convert light energy into electrical energy. They do this by using something called the photoelectric effect'. When photons come and hit a metal surface, they knock off electrons. We then capture and store these electrons. These photovoltaic cells are made of a silicon crystal. But silicon is a poor conductor of electricity. So impurities are added to help. This creates something called a 'semiconductor'. As light hits the surface, electrons are knocked loose.

There's all sorts of other things to take into account as well. Such as the time of day, the location, types of plant, and transport and storage costs on the other side as well. How to Make an Edible Apple Swan!
The next time you come across a basket of fruit, don't just eat it. Have some fun with it first. In this project, we're converting any ordinary apple, into a decorative, and completely edible, apple swan. Go find your basket of fruit, and pick out an apple you think looks good. Now, using a sharp cutting knife, carefully cut the apple at a slight diagonal, so that it slices right through the center, of the apple core. While we're here, let's save 2 of the seeds, because we'll be needing them later. Now that we've got our two halves, let's take the side that.
Still has the bottom attached, and place it face down on a cutting board. We'll need to place 2 butter knives perpendicular with the top and bottom of the apple. Now we can carefully cut down along one side of the apple core until the knife bottoms out on our makeshift spacers. Then use the spacers as a guide to gently cut in from the side. At this point, we can go ahead and grab the other half of the apple, and place it between the butter knives like before. But this time, we're just going to use them as spacers, to cut an even slice off the bottom. You can see that repeating this process 3 or 4 times, gives us a nice variety of shapes and sizes. Now look for a piece that resembles a heart that's been slightly flattened on top. All it takes to.

Solar Powered LED Lights Followup
Hey I thought I would do another follow up tutorial to the solor powered Christmas light tutorial I just did. the panel here I ended up taking it. It's been really dark so go figure in December right so i figured pop out the batteries and just charge them through a battery charger so they are are user replaceable. They're not very powerful there's some genetic brand i never heard of bfunang battery made in china so there are thousands mili amp hours. not very powerful. 1.2 volt. I believe all rechargeable AA batteries are 1.2 volt.
And so this what the inside looks like. Solar panels on the other side here. It's got positive and negative flows to the control panel batteries plugged in and flows to the on off switch which then provides power to the christmas lights themselves I also found out that is definitely the light sensors so If it's sunny out then the lights won't receive power, they will stay off if you cover it up then it'll turn on. so that's what i discovered so far, I ran them last night before i turned them off.
