Many of you may not be familiar with induction cooking, so let's review how induction works. Induction cooking is a two part system. The first part is a coil of copper wire like this one. When electric current is passed through the coil, it creates an electromagnetic field of energy. All by itself, nothing happens. The control flashes a letter F telling you that it failed to detect a pan. Electromagnetic energy is around us every day in the form of AM and FM radio, cell phones, wireless laptops, microwaves, infrared, and visible light.
The second part of this twopart system is the pan. Now you need to know that not all pans will work on an induction cooktop. Pans that are a hundred percent copper, hundred percent aluminum, or nonmagnetic stainless steel will not work. The bottom of the pan must have some iron content. The easiest way to tell if your pans have an iron base core is to use a magnet. If the magnet sticks to the bottom of the pan then that pan will work on your induction cooktop. The bottoms of many pans are of a sandwich construction like this one.
Often stainless steel inside and out but may have an aluminum core in the center. Those pains will work if the stainless steel is magnetic. Just check it with a magnet. Now let's see this in action. I'll place the pan on a cooktop with water in it and turn it on high. If this were a traditional radiant cooktop, the entire element would heat and the entire surface would glow red, but not with induction. The coil below the ceramic surface does not heat and will not glow. All the electromagnetic energy passes through.
Why Teslas Powerwall Battery Is Amazing
All of humanity just won a really important victory in our battle to lower the CO2 emissions that are causing climate change. Tesla CEO Elon Musk introduced the world to the Powerwall, a wallmounted battery for your house which aims to accelerate our transition to clean solar and windpower. Before the powerwall, there was no way to store the energy generated from the panels that capture sunlight on our roofs. So during the day they could give you the power you needed, but at night, you had to rely on the grid, which gets most of its.
Electricity from coal, natural gas, and nuclear reactors. There had been some early home batteries out there, but nothing that was nearly this affordable. But Tesla, which has built thousands of large, lithiumion battery packs for its growing electric car business, was able to produce a similar battery for buildings at a scale that dropped the production costs dramatically. The lowest capacity model will cost just $3,000. And this is the first generation of the productbefore Tesla's even completed building its massive new Gigafactory, or any real competitors have entered the market, events that will surely push the price down.
Even further, while increasing the energy storage capacity of the Powerwall. Here's how it works. When the sun is out, solar panels will power your house and charge the Powerwall at the same time. And when the sun goes down, this charged battery will kick in to meet most or all of your electricity needs until the sun comes back up again the next morning. This is gamechanging. More and more people will go completely offgrid. Every building whether it's a home, office, business, warehouse, factory they can all.
Install solar panels and some Powerwalls and instantly see their fossil fuelgenerated electricity needs drop significantly. Not every building will be able to go completely solarpowered, but most will get pretty close, especially as our appliances become more and more energy efficient. And it gets even better. The powerwall will be connected to the Internet and the rest of the energy grid. Here in Southern California, and most other heavily populated places, the electricity company charges us a lot more when we use electricity during peak timethat's in the afternoon and early evening when the temperatures are warmest and most of us are.
Home and still awake. The Tesla battery is smart, and knows when electricity is cheapest, so that's when it will draw from the grid to charge itself. And then, during peak time when you need electricity, the battery will power the house. Sometimes, you'll be able to sell back unused power to the utility company during peak time to even make a profit. It's basically going to make each individual building its own power station. Overnight, Tesla seems less a futuristic car company, and more like the man who inspired the company's name, a revolutionary electricity engineer named Nikola.

Saving Energy with Solar Power Using a Solar Powered Water Heater
So what you see here is our water heater. And this water heater is a big one, because we want to store as much water as possible when we get the hot water from the sun. If you would use only a 10 gallon or a 20 gallon water heater, and we take a shower, then the water will be gone. So we use a big one because we want to store as much water as possible. And it's double insulated, so it has not the normal insulation, it's double insulated so.
It can store the hot water for at least 23 days before it gets cool. What we use in here, it's a little bit unusual because we use rain water in here. Many of you know that the water heater's really get problems when you have hot water because they get clogged up by the limestone, and they are, then you have to call a repair man or even throw it away, because nothing comes out there anymore. But when you use rain water, the rain water has no limestone in there. No lime, no hard particles. So this water heater is here for 12 years.
Now, 13 years now, and it will never clog up because rain water does not clog up a water heater. So that's a good thing. Another good thing is when you open it up on your faucet, the hot water you will not have the stains. When you use the rain water in your washing machine, then you only use a quarter of the detergent that you normally use because the detergent has not too soften your hard water. So, you save money there. And, as you know with a washing machine, you have the problem that the limestone is building up in there.
Too, and it clogs up your washing machine, and it gives stains in the machine and on your clothes. So, with rain water you don't have this problem. I only can recommend using a rain water catching system, and it's easy to do and it's not very expensive. Many states even supports the use of rain water in giving you a tax rebate on your rain water harvesting system. Here in Texas, we don't pay sales tax on it because when you tell your company you buy it from, the will cut out the sales tax, because Texas wants to have people use.
Solar Attic Fan How to Cool the Attic
Hey Michael Church here and in this tutorial we're going to talk about solar attic fans stay tuned. CrawlSpaceNinja I am sitting next to a solar attic fan that we just installed. this fan actually has a lifetime warranty and as you can see it's adjustable so we can tilt it to capture the most sunlight possible typically you want the solar cells pointed south according to the installation manual so if you have to put it on the back to the roof because a cosmetic reasons or whatever you can tilt.
The solar pane up to make sure that you get maximum efficiency the nice thing about solar attic fans is that you're 100 percent of grid when it comes to power as soon as the Sun hits this attic fan it's going so and then as a night approaches it turns itself off so you're trying to keep the air moving on the hottest part of the day but you also gotta make sure you do other things in the attic like a insulate properly air seal and possibly even install radiant barrier if you like.
This rooftop where there's no shade so here's our solar attic fan installed and I hope you like this tutorial you don't mind click below that you like the tutorial and subscribe to our YouTube channel and we will get more tutorials out to you as they happen have a great day! Michael Church again you know there was a couple things I forgot to mention wells up on that roof about solar attic fans so what I did was I wrote a blog and if you click on the Crawl Space Ninja Link down below.
You can I get access to the blog and learn a little bit more about solar attic fans and how they can benefit you like for example I don't know if you know this but there's a 30 percent tax credit or up to 30 percent tax credit I should say on solar attic fans including labor and materials until the end of 2016 so you learn a little bit more about that and also make sure you ventilate the attic properly and I may even have an installation instruction on there but.
SinglePhase PWM Inverter ChopperInverter 9063
Welcome to this tutorial about the singlephase PWM inverter. This is one of the five inverters available with the chopperinverter control applications. Just leftclick on this button to start it. In the new window, under function selection, select the function you want to use by clicking on its name. Here, select singlephase PWM inverter. Now let's take a look at the settings have this function here. Switching frequency up to 20,000 Hertz. Frequency adjust the output voltage frequency from 0 to 120 Hertz. Peak voltage percentage of DC bus Set the peak output voltage.
In percentage up the input DC voltage Q1, Q4, Q2, Q5. The switching transistors you can choose PWM, or always on or off for troubleshooting. Status indicates if the function is started or not. There are also the two knobs here to adjust the frequency and peak voltage. And finally the startstop button to control the function. To help you connect your equipment, an electrical diagram of the function is presented with the Show Connection button for easier connection process. When your equipment is correctly connected start the function. The yellow curve is the input voltage in AD.
The blue curve is the output voltage in CD. And the purple and red curves are the PWM signal of Q1 and Q2 respectively. As you see, the yellow curb is DC voltage while the blue curve is AC voltage, indicating that the inverter is working. Note that I'm using the lowpass filter at CD to get rid of the 20,000 Hertz signal in the output voltage created by those transistors. Only small spikes remain. If I vary the frequency, you can see that the output AC voltage is varying the same way.
How An AC Drive Works Innovative IDM
Hi, Adam Ring here with Innovative IDM. I want to take a few minutes and explain a little bit about how an AC drive works. Really basic. First, we start off with the sine wave an AC sine wave typically three phase power or we can also use a single phase power as well. So, we take that we send it through a bridge rectifier or series of diodes basically convert that AC into DC. So, it starts off and its a sine wave. Once it goes through the rectifier it basically flips all the bottom half's up and makes DC, direct current. We store that.
In these large capacitors sometimes we call them water towers and that basically is our source for what we are going to use to generate a synthetic AC sine wave out to a motor. Then, we take that DC and we go through a series of transistors which are basically electronic switches and we use that to create a synthetic sine wave, where we can vary the voltage and the frequency in order to get a motor to spin at a given rate. If we keep the ratio of the voltage to the frequency consistent, then we can produce constant torque throughout.
Energy Electricity in Science How Does Wave Energy Work
Hi, I'm Steve Jones and I'm going to tell you a little about how wave energy works. The first thing to understand this, that the energy comes from the movement of the wave as the wave goes past the point through a various different types of energy that can be harness in this way, but here is an example of how you might take energy from a wave. As you can see as the wave moves in this direction, this point will go up and down. And as this go up and down, it will push this wheel so that it rotates in this direction. So the.
Vertical movement here will produce a rotational movement here and a rotational movement is what you need to generate electricity. And this is important because most forms of energy are electrical energy that we're looking for. Another way is if we have two objects floating in the water in this way and they are connected together through a coupling here, then as the wave goes up and down, this actually are going to go up and down also. And that means that this coupling is going to flex in this way and by putting a ratchet device on it,.
