Today's stage started in Drachten. We had a great start, great performance, the boat did great on hydrofoils. We did notice an increase in the amount of water spraying up at the rear strut, so we're looking into that. We will be trying to improve that now and tonight, to ensure the boat is in top shape for tomorrow's stage. We really had to chase Tim, the pilot, to keep him in our sights. That was really looking good! Yesterday we nicely drained the battery, so we got up early today to let the solar panels catch some sun.

We completely recharged the battery on time for the race. The last stretch is about to get underway. It'll run from the Sneekermeer to the city centre of Sneek We just finished. In the break midway, we decided to install the screw of the 2012 team on our boat. This should allow us to go a little bit faster, which it indeed did. However, the engine did warm up a lot more so we couldn't go full throttle on the last stretch. We were doing some measurements, if this screw was indeed better we might put it on permanently tomorrow.

Earlier in day we did constantly sail fast so overall we gained some time on the teams in third and fouth place. The number 1 team did get ahead a bit further though. Tomorrow's stage stays in Sneek and the weather should be great. There will be a regular stage of about 6 mi 10 km, as well as a sprint race. The team is really looking forward to the first sprint race we will participate in, so we hope to see you then!.

Hello everyone! This morning we started on the last stage of the Dong Energy Solar Challenge..which runs from Harlingen to Leeuwarden. First, however, we had to repair numerous things due to the leak we sustained yesterday. After working all night, we came back strong and were able start properly today. We got off to a good start. For the first part the velocity was limited to 6kmh, but after that we could go all out..but then our luck turned very sour. Just outside of Leeuwarden the boat capsized. Luckily some of our team members immediately jumped into the water.

We flipped the boat back over and ran through a quick checklist..after which we found that the boat was still safe and our electronics were still pretty much functional We could continue racing, but decided not to sail on the hydrofoil anymore due to the gusts..instead choosing to steadily sail across the finish line on our hull. This did give the thirdplaced team, Gowrings Energy Team the opportunity to gain some ground on us The onehour lead we had this morning on Gowrings Energy Team has been cut down to some 30 to 40 minutes now.

We will now do everything we can to patch up the boat, so that after the restart..heading into the centre of Leeuwarden, into the Prinsentuin, we can peak once again..so that we can defend second place. We did try to charge it as much as possible, but we think something was damaged when the boat capsized..so our battery wasn't fully charged, meaning we could not sail at our top speed. However, we were doing fine, still on course for a second place finish, even sailing on hydrofoils. Sadly, luck was not on our side and we ran out of battery, that is, we had no energy left.

This caused us to drop in the final rankings..we don't know how far yet, that's still being looked into, but more on that later. It's been a real low point that we need to get through, but there will definitely be a new team, with a new boat..so you will certainly hear from us again! We will also fully repair this boat, so we can use it in exhibitions. For now we just need to suck it up, but we'll keep on going. We've had a great week..and our final ranking of fourth place really isn't all that bad.
